About this deal

This is a fast paced and well plotted story peppered with social media postings, news bulletins and police interviews. The narrative details not only the police investigation but is also comprised of newspaper articles, Twitter commentary, Facebook postings and the odd hand-written contribution. Close To Home is the first of a series of police procedurals by Cara Hunter, featuring DI Adam Fawley.

To fire up the suspense, Hunter uses social media feeds, newspaper reports, and the usual police inquiries. No one in the neighbourhood saw anything, not even the parents, and the detective is trying to keep an open mind in this whole situation, as someone is clearly lying. The father, Barry, works in construction and has until recently been very close and affable with Daisy, exhibiting that easy father and daughter connection. She can hear noises in the undergrowth, the rustling of small animals and a heavier movement coming steadily closer, step by step.Mum Sharon, and Dad Barry, each have secrets they'd rather keep hidden from the outside world, while 10 year old Leo, (Daisy's brother) is reluctant to share what he knows with the police - and he clearly knows something. One of my favourite parts is just how well Adam's police team worked, their absolute commitment to the case and how they support one another. Daisy’s ten-year-old brother, Leo, appears rather detached from events and is reluctant to speak with the police, however obvious is it that he clearly knows more than he is willing to disclose.

And, DI Fawley is tasked with finding out where 8 year old Daisy Mason has vanished to in the first installment of this police procedural. Told in short chunks from different points of view, mixing DI Adam Fawley’s own first person point of view with the perspective of his colleague, DC Everett and flashbacks to Daisy’s life in the buildup to her disappearance, plus news reports and social media posts about the case. There’s what you think is the ending, and then there is the huge, final twist that will leave you flabbergasted (and very pleased you chose to read the book. Daisy’s ten-year-old brother seems like he knows something, but he’s just as secretive and odd as the parents. Cara's novels have sold more than a million copies worldwide, and the TV rights to the series have now been acquired by the Fremantle group. a pesar de que la mayor parte de la raza humana está compuesta por cerdos, de vez en cuando un cerdito se casa con una cerdita y nace un leopardo. cheek, where tears still linger, and she wishes with all her heart she was like the princess in Brave. A second and more occasional narrative marked in italicised text takes the form of flashbacks from the days preceding Daisy’s disappearance.
