About this deal

Not all the Characters are likeable, for sooo many reasons, they are based on real characters, and some of them are horrific but harshly real, the Soldiers for example, how they treated people was unimaginable but it happened. Set against the background of this horrific camp, The Librarian of Auschwitz is a beautifully written book and I wish I had read it before going there.

They were supposed to keep the children disciplined and “entertained” while their parents were involved in slave labour. les textes complémentaires à la fin permettent d'avoir + d'infos sur l'adaptation à l'ouvrage (qui n'est pas très très réaliste mais très intéressante à lire), sur le contexte et le passé. Incidentally, at the end of the book, the author describes his meeting with Dita Kraus and how they went to Terezin together. At some point, I was all in - ‘hooked’ - transported to a children’s school,- “Block 31” within a ‘family camp’, in Auschwitz - written from young people’s perspectives.First of all I just want to take a moment to admire the cover, it's absolutely stunning and I think it represents the book perfectly. Although Auschwitz is clearly a location of physical and mental torment in the novel, there is relatively minimal focus on its worst horrors. This is an especially important day to my family, like many other Jewish families around the world, since my father was a Holocaust survivor from Poland. Rubio does not avoid Josef Mengele’s grotesque medical experiments, allusions to gas chambers, and an image of the crematoria, but most of the book takes place in the children’s block and section BIIb. Hirsch and his assistants used them as teaching material; and some of the assistants also knew stories (there are six such “living books)” with which they captivated the children.

He has to tell them one day that Block 31 was to be evacuated by the following day, July 11th, 1944. The last supper Jesus shared with his disciples was a celebration of Seder, and the Christian Eucharist arose from this Jewish rite. But it is inconsistent in content and this would probably not be appropriate for children ages 8-12.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The art of the graphic novel is very beautiful and emotive although I am not very satisfied with the way the story was adapted in some parts. But any novel that presents even the slightest positivity regarding the Holocaust is dangerous in this current climate.

They are just what some readers need instead of a large and for them, for whatever reasons, unwieldy novel. Those who are hesitant to pick up a 360 page book about a subject, have no such qualms about reading a shorter, graphic novel of the same. Este adevărat că omul supraviețuiește dacă are pâine să mănânce și apă să bea, dar mulțumindu-se doar cu atât moare întreaga omenire.Unauthorized use and/or duplication of this material without express and written permission from this site’s author and/or owner is strictly prohibited. I’m normally a pretty unflappable reader, well out of my YA years, and these descriptions came across as merely gratuitous, rather than serving an actual purpose. Yes, it described some of the most horrific incidents that occurred, but didn't linger on them and instead, concentrated on Dita's experiences. Sei que, no que me resta de tempo por aqui, esquecerei pessoas e lugares que passaram e passarão por mim, mas as horas que vivi nesse túmulo gigante permanecerão sempre na minha memória.
