About this deal

This whole book was like running uphill - you don't want to do it and you're not sure why you started in the first place but you push on because you feel you have something to prove and even though it was a dumb idea you feel like you accomplished something when you reach the top because it was the worst decision you've made in a while and you clearly didn't look at your life and your choices. During one final breakup, the two decide it’s time to be a part for now–they need to fix themselves and grow if they ever want to truly and completely be together.

I liked that before moving with Landon, Tessa made the effort to get her relationship with her mom on the right track. I was hoping that even though everything they went through was so exaggerated, so overdone, far fetched, so pointless that it wouldn't end up being pointless. Well, it works at the beginning, but after the funeral , Zed asks Tessa if she really is over with Hardin. I have NO CLUE when my opinion of Tessa changed, but I know that it was the middle of the third when Hardin finally made sense. Its a clearly selfish trait of “I want to be your friend even though I know you have feelings for me that will never be reciprocated”. He had read his journal during therapy and a publisher ended up reading it and everything escalated since.

I’m giving my four finally finished and the characters gathered their senses not to act like spoiled brats stars! This was definitely the best book out of the four, still not great, but definitely the best of the bunch. It ends, though bittersweet to say goodbye, with multiple epilogues following them into their forties.

The ending jumps forward 2 years for a page or two, then jumps ahead another 2 years, then another 10 years. It was beyond infuriating to have both Hardin and Tessa constantly making themselves out to be the victim, but especially Hardin. One of the worst things about this series is that Tessa and Hardin take a little break and all of a sudden, Hardin is a semi-decent human. I'm really just phoning it in at this point, we've moved so far past anything remotely good that it's a struggle to remember this won't be the last book I'll ever read and books aren't actually all garbage. From the moment this book landed on my doorstep I knew I was officially checking out until I was finished reading. Things weren't easier in this book either, actually I was a little mad at Tessa, because she made Hardin wait so long to be together again (and forever).

She breaks the kiss "Hardin maybe we could go to Vegas tomorrow, I mean it's already so late and we can rent a hotel room for the night and you know. What’s more annoying is she still marries her neighbour despite being caught in a steamy clinch with Christian the night before her wedding!Hardin argues with her mom, Carol, about whether he's good for Tessa and how he always abandons her. I got to love Hardin and Tessa (especially Hardin), and the supporting characters too (Landon, Karen, Ken, etc. As much as I loved to hate this couple, I have to admit that if there was ever a couple that stuck it out, it was them.
